Banned (full prohibition)
Alabama, Arkansas, California (effective February 2026), Connecticut, Indiana, Louisiana (effective August 2025), Vermont, Wisconsin, Washington D.C.
Restricted (partial ban or concentrated products banned)
Florida (concentrated 7-OH banned, effective August 2025), Ohio (7-OH and synthetic kratom banned, December 2025).
Regulated (age restrictions, labeling, or Kratom Consumer Protection Act)
Arizona, Georgia, Kentucky, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee (21+), Texas (7-OH restricted), Utah.
Pending legislation (2026)
Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, North Dakota, Pennsylvania
All remaining states have no restrictions. No restriction does not mean no harm. It means your lawmaker has not yet acted.

March 2026 U.S. Military
Kratom banned across all branches, effective December 31, 2025.
February 2026 California
Enforcement underway. Approximately 95% retailer compliance reported.
December 2025 Ohio
Board of Pharmacy passes emergency rule banning 7-OH and synthetic kratom products.
October 2025 California
Governor signs legislation banning kratom and 7-OH products.
August 2025 Florida
Concentrated 7-OH products banned as Schedule I.
August 2025 Louisiana
Statewide Schedule I ban takes effect.
